Executive Director – Alabama Deer Trackers Association

Introduced to the outdoors by his father before he could even walk, he grew up with a strong foundation of hunting ethics, respect for wildlife, and a passion for conservation. Over the years, he became an avid turkey hunter and trapper, while also serving as an outdoor mentor for the State of Alabama, helping others discover the rewards of time spent afield. His lifelong bond with dogs led him to tracking, where few things compare to the fulfillment of recovering a child’s first deer or a hunter’s once-in-a-lifetime trophy. Just as his father did for him, he is now teaching his son those same values, ensuring the traditions of hunting and stewardship continue to the next generation. As Executive Director of the Alabama Deer Trackers Association, he is dedicated to protecting habitat, promoting ethical hunting, and passing on the heritage of the outdoors.

Jason Smith

Operations Director – Alabama Deer Trackers Association

I developed a passion for hunting at an early age, spending many years bowhunting exclusively and honing the skills that would shape my lifelong connection to the outdoors. Over the years, I have shared this tradition with my daughters, instilling in them the same respect for wildlife and conservation. In addition to bowhunting, I am an avid bowfisherman and experienced tracker, committed to the ethical recovery of game. In my role as Operations Director, I bring both field experience and leadership to support the mission of the Alabama Deer Trackers Association.

Norman Parks – Secretary/Treasurer

Norman Parks brings over two decades of experience as a dedicated deer tracker and dog handler to the Alabama Deer Trackers Association. A lifelong outdoorsman, he is an avid traditional bowhunter who has pursued game across the country and remains deeply involved in the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen. Norman’s passion for the outdoors goes beyond the hunt—he is committed to preserving traditions, supporting fellow hunters, and sharing his knowledge with the next generation. As Secretary/Treasurer, he plays a vital role in guiding the association’s mission and ensuring its continued success.

Brian Morris

Events Director - Alabama Deer Trackers Association

Brian Morris is an avid outdoorsman and lifelong hunter with a deep passion for tracking and hunting with dogs. He has been an experienced deer hunter and dog handler since his early youth, inspired and guided by his grandfathers and uncle. Brian is dedicated to promoting ethical hunting practices, conservation, and the tradition of outdoor sportsmanship.

Landon Manning 

Communications Director - Alabama Deer Trackers Association

Landon grew up hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, and working on the farm with his family along with being an Eagle Scout he has a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

His love for dogs and hunting led him to tracking wounded game, where he has spent years studying the science of wounded game recovery and tracking dogs. Now a certified judge for the American Blood Trackers Association (ABTA) where he also serves as chair of the testing committee, Landon is dedicated to educating and mentoring others so the tradition of ethical wounded game recovery can thrive for generations.
